1948 Wisden Soft Back

£53.00 £42.40

Thank you for looking at this Good to Very Good condition 1948 Wisden Soft back. The 85th edition.

The covers on this edition are very good –  There is some dustiness to the front and a mark to the bottom left of the front,  but no text or imagery is impacted upon. The spine is also in good condition – it is curved a little and dusty.

Internal hinges are very very important on Wisdens – this is because weak hinges will result in breakage with normal reading. The hinges on this edition are very good

The pages within are in very good condition, some slight page edge curling tot he first few pages within but in no way do these impact on the content..

The 1948 Wisden  was produced using two different types of paper. The first 70 pages and the final 180+ are superior quality paper, the central pages are of lesser quality. Again, post war shortages and the decision by Wisden to increase the pagination by 200+ pages in late 1947 meant that the only paper available was that of lesser quality – 90% of all Wisdens for 1948 were produced this way. The result – a two-tone look on the page block and the central block of pages all have brownish tops to the top and foot.

Contents Include:
Compton and Edrich – RC Robertson-Glasgow.
No Magic in Fast Bowling – CJ Kortwright.
Sir Stanley Jackson.
Australia and England – VGJ Jenkins.
South Africa in England.
County Champions: Middlesex.
MCC in Australia & New Zealand in 1946-47.
Sheffield Shield: Victoria.
