1949 Wisden Hardback – Lovely Condition
£75.00 £52.50
Thank you for looking at this Lovely condition 1949 Wisden hardback edition. The 86th edition.
One of the most desirable of all Wisdens. In 1948 the Australians toured and the tour became the single most successful tour of all time, by any nation. The team became known as ‘The Invincibles”- of 34 matches played, they won 25 and drew 9. Seven Australian players scored 1,000+ runs on the tour, Bradman scored 2428 and Morris 1,922. Two bowlers, Johnston and Johnson took over 200 wickets each and four other bowlers 100+ wickets each. The tour was a resounding success and in the Test series England played a very very good England team.
The front and back boards are in Lovely condition, the gilt is strong to the front, the spine has dulled – there is no noticable ageing on the boards. The spine is also strong.
Internally the hinges to the front and the rear and the rest of the pages are in lovely condition.
The page block is a little blocky, but generally very good+
