1971 Wisden Soft Back
This is a Lovely condition 1971 Wisden Soft back. The 108th edition.
The 1971 has, over the years, become the most expensive Wisden of all editions from 1950. The cancellation of the 1970 South Africa tour to the UK and the series that was played instead, England v Rest of the World, is reason enough for this edition to be unique. But add into the mix the reasons why the SA tour was cancelled, the political and social ramifications and the Basil D’Oliveira affair, the 1970 is truly one to treasure. The decision by the publishers to print fewer copies and the failure to issue a reprint also contributed to this edition becoming scarce.
The close and superbly contested County Championship title race of 1970 should also not be forgotten.
The front and rear covers on this edition are in super condition – they are bright and clean. The spine is solid and firm, it is a smidgen dusty but it is 50-years-old after all.
Internally the condition its super – the page block is a little dusty.
