1948 Wisden Hardback – Excellent Condition
£275.00 £192.50
Thank you for looking at this Excellent condition 1948 Wisden Hardback. The 85th edition.
The front and rear boards of this edition are in EXCELLENT condition, both are strong and firm. The gilt on the front and on the spine is stunning. The spine board is very strong, super in fact.
The inside front and inside rear facing pages are in excellent condition.
The pages within are in lovely condition, bright and clean throughout.
The 1948 Wisden was produced using two different types of paper. The first 70 pages and the final 180+ are superior quality paper, the central pages are of lesser quality. Again, post war shortages and the decision by Wisden to increase the pagination by 200+ pages in late 1947 meant that the only paper available was that of lesser quality – 90% of all Wisdens for 1948 were produced this way. The result – a two-tone look on the page block and the central block of pages all have brownish tops to the top and foot. There is browning on this edition.
The page block is two-tone – it is actually exceptional!
Contents Include:
